Pendulum of Waltenhofen

The phenomenon of induction of an electric current was discovered by Michael Faraday, he hypothesized that a changing magnetic field is necessary to induce a current in a nearby circuit.

The phenomenon of induction of an electric current was discovered by Michael Faraday, he hypothesized that a changing magnetic field is necessary to induce a current in a nearby circuit. If the second circuit is a metallic pendulum it will be slowed down, since the induced current - and magnetic field - has opposite direction to the original one.
